As title sponsor it’s our intention always to have a positive impact on the league, its clubs and the fans. We are in constant contact with the league but unfortunately have no say over venue and pricing. (

We’ve donated £20,000 each to @officialgtfc  (via @MarinersTrust) & @SolihullMoors

To help with their fans’ travel and to bring down costs for kids tickets. We’re speaking to the league about doing more to listen to and understand the fans to avoid this happening again.

Nice touch that - credit where it's due and a result for football fans.

Really good gesture that. Just goes to show what a bit of pressure, applied in the correct places, can do.

Hope that this hits the National League with embarrassment and possibly Vanarama look at possibly pulling the plug of sponsorship as it’s caused them to look awful on a huge scale.

So the leagues own sponsor realise that some thing is wrong, the league will be lucky to get another sponsor when Vanarama move on, who wants to be associated with amateurs.

Great that they've done it and more fans will now get to the game from both sides, it's at the level predicted on the Tickets thread. For £20k they've bought themselves some distance from the National League stadium and pricing decision.

What really grates for me is that if the final had been Solihull v Halifax I suspect there would have been free child tickets or other offers chucked around like confetti to avoid a virtually empty stadium. National League were no doubt hoping for 2 big clubs and implied that in their pathetic PR response. I would like to know what the stadium hire deal is and who get's what. If the GLA are involved it might be available via FoI?

Always though tagging them on Twitter was the right thing for people to do, good result in the end though.

Says a lot when the sponsors get involved and basically want to distance themselves from the actions of the product they're paying to be associated with.

Time for heads to roll in the upper echelons of the National League me thinks.  Rotten to the core and definitely in need of a clear out.

I think it is absolutely atrocious that since the reaction to the ticket prices being announced on Sunday and Lower Tier concessions selling out on Monday, the only things the National League have seen fit to put out on Twitter are:

  • Andrew Dallas and Luke Waterfall need to pick what charity their £200 man of the match money is going to
  • Uploaded the video of a Barnet goal.
  • Retweeted the PGMOL match officials announcement.
  • Announced that Alan Dowson is the new Dartford manager.
  • And today they have confirmed what kits the finalists will wear.

Their notifications must have gone absolutely crazy with criticism over the last few days and they have decided not to respond. They must have been aware that their stadium choice was going to be unpopular back in April because they had the foresight to disable replies. Both finalists have confirmed that members had no say in the location of the final or ticket prices and Vanarama, the main sponsors of the league have confirmed that they don't have any say in that either but distanced themselves from the competition they sponsor by donating £20,000 to both clubs.

Matt Dean and David Burns from Radio Humberside have both reached out to the National League on separate occasions and been hit with silence. They should be accountable for their decisions and the silence is very worrying. It would not surprise me if Vanarama stop sponsoring the National League after Sunday and if that is the case, it will take a brave company to step forward and sponsor them.

I really hope we are out of here on Sunday and I really hope the other members get together and demand a change of the people making decisions for this disgraceful organisation. Non-league football has really done itself proud this season with fans coming out in high numbers, teams going toe to toe with Premier League opposition and the play-off games have put elite football to shame. Despite all of that though, playing the final in an athletics stadium with seats removed is an insult to the fans, players, TV audience and the whole of non-league.

The National League have not thought this through in regards to the venue or pricing and for this they should hang their heads in shame.

I’d like to say a very big thank you to Vanarama. They already hand over considerable cash to sponsor this league. The fact they must be so incensed to have felt the need to step forward with even more money is a credit them.
Vanarama’s action is damming and shaming the league.   I too, would love to have been listening to that call.
If Vanarama do stay as sponsors I suspect they will be a little more vocal from now on.
