There is a couple going back to '88 according to BT Sport, can't remember who though. About 6 including us and Rovers I think they said.

Lincoln came straight back up in 1988. I think Carlisle and Darlington have managed it too.

Shrewsbury did it in 04 IIRC. Second winners of the playoffs.

It's also worth noting that Cheltenham absolutely walked the league, but almost got relegated from League 2 the following season with the same squad.

Stayed up by 1 point, so that's something to bear in mind when people say we should keep most of the squad that got us promoted.

I think Darlington did it too in the very early years of automatic promotion/relegation and Carlisle did it in 2004/05

3 teams have done it in the last 25 years. Before that, it was a lot more 'non league' than it is now.

The league now is a lot stronger and more professional, especially last season, which is easily the strongest it has ever been and makes our promotion even greater.

I think he is so much more relaxed this time round. And I think we all know why.
I noticed that he started the ‘Who’s that team they call the Grimsby’ yesterday.
He was controlled enough not to sing the lines and we’re f***ing dynamite and we don’t have Fenty anymore. So no swearing or disrespecting his previous boss.
But the fact that he started that song says it all.
And the last chant of ‘anymore’ he shouted loudly !!!
Spot on Paul. 👍

All of this!

Made me chuckle him choosing that song to start off hahaha  but still diplomatic enough to leave out certain parts!

I seem to remember that challinor when celebrating promotion directed his celebrations against Wrexham, Danny Clarke for Brovers it was against us/telegraph? So makes it even more telling that Hurst chose his song as an anti fenty one...

I seem to think tranmere do it aswell. But could be wrong.

Tranmere were beaten by Village Green Rovers in the play off Final the year after we'd beaten them. Close but nor close enough.

And when you fall back into the mud it hurts a lot.
No! None of it was true, none of those things we thought we could see existed at all.
All that was really there was still more misery

Hurst has built a squad that became a team.

The run from january onwards has been sensational. I’m very optimistic about League 2 next season.

Apparently 7 clubs have come straight back up since the system moved from election/re-election to relegation & promotion. I believe the last club to be elected to the league was Wigan Athletic in 1978.

In terms of Paul Hurst, he’s a good manager who can be and is being trusted to get on with his job and being given some tools to do it.

What did Jason say? To paraphrase “good people, good process and good behaviours make the difference” or something like that. Well Hurst ticks all of those boxes in spades.
