Ouch. Yep, that challenge on McAtee was definitely a penalty and a red card in the current climate. Luckily he didn't get hurt and was there to bag his goal later on.

From those highlights, we really did create most of the chances so no surprise that Solihull didn't complain about the result. My memories of the day were that they managed a decent amount of threatening play, down the wings especially, but without finding the telling cross or pass so very well defended by us.

From our seats it already looked a good finish by McAtee but when you see it from the different angles how composed and accurate is he? So much better than at first glance

I still think the challenge on Cropper was also a pen.

A clumsy tangle and it looked like there was intent from their player to trip him, but I can see why that one was waved away. The McAtee incident was much more clear cut.

Absolute thug, got an 8 match ban for biting Bradley Wood when he was at Lincoln but in keeping with the pattern of terrible referees in NL he was only booked for the incident during the match. Also banned for 4 games in the same season after their appeal against a sending off for a very similar tackle stepping on the ankle and not even going for the ball was turned down.

This is the first time I have seen the Cropper and McAtee penalty incidents (or any of the match).

Cropper - touches the ball first with right foot, leg gets tangled between defenders legs. Goes down a touch theatrically, although it may have been self-preservation. Penalty. No yellow card for defender as clearly unintentional.

McAtee - McAtee touches the ball first, then defender lunges into his ankle. Clumsy rather than malicious (although it was Storer so can’t be ruled out) but out of control. Definitely a penalty. If that happens elsewhere on the pitch, it’s a red card too (and probably should have been here).

I can only presume the officials were unsighted, couldn’t be certain that the Town player played the ball first in both incidents and they didn’t see the contact on McAtee’s ankle. I think VAR would have given both pens. Certainly the McAtee one.

Bradley was absolutely fuming about this. He had money on him getting sent off.

There is a longer version on YouTube which gives a better indication of how the match panned out.

Is there any clever poster who could download the full match, including the pundits' opening and closing discussions?

An inch one way and the keeper would have got a touch, an inch the other way and it may have hit the post and come out.  Inch perfect I'd say.

The brilliant thing I love about that goal is that a split second before Smith intercepts to play the through ball, McAtee is sat on his àrse having stretched to try and regain possession. All of a sudden, he instinctively senses an opportunity and BOOM!! 4 seconds later (literally ‘cos I’ve checked) the ball is in the back of the net.

The goal was a thing of beauty. McAtee desperately trying to win back possession with what looked like a kung fu move. The Smith interception being the sign of a player who will have a good career in the game. His thinking was one step ahead of their player.

He then shows even more class by spotting the opportunity and playing a through ball that any midfielder would be proud of. The dummy by JMD, whose on the same wavelength as Smith and McAtee, who had also seen the possibilities and sprang to his feet despite him feeling his carves at that stage by his own admission.

And finally the finish. He had about a square foot to put it in and his strike was unerring, perfectly timed and weighted with keeper going down as he struck it.

Magnificent.
