We always seem to get low-key friendlies , I can’t remember the last time we played a Prem club per season

Never bothered me really. It would only be their youth/3rd 11 anyway.  I never judge pre-season results win or lose.
I generally go to one away game for a p1ss up, then the last home one just to have a look at the new squad. I suspect that with the feel good factor this year crowds will also be increased for pre-season. Which can only be a good thing.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Premier League teams are not bothered about playing lower league teams anymore. They want lucrative trips to Asia or America

Fox and Efete were hugely impressive v Cleethorpes last year. Grant wasn't really interested and Taylor pulled up injured chasing a nothing ball. Harry shows up all the unfit players and refs sometimes let too much go.

Pre season friendlies are risky ventures. Mansfield weren't really interested in a dull game. Boston and Chesterfield were proper games on good surfaces after loan players were integrated into the squad.

Results don't matter of course. Don't mind losing to Lincoln so long as we start the season without picking up injuries this year.

Pre season is of course basically just to get minutes in legs and to experiment some things maybe before the season starts, of course you want to see some  encouraging signs but it's not the be all and end all. I remember last pre season we put out a fairly strong side against Hyde and got outplayed we then just a few weeks later made a blistering start to the season.

And the season didn't end out too badly did it!

And of course there's always the 2009 demolition job on Winterton with Akpa-Akpro scoring a hatful.   That season went well*

*Until Barry Hayles came on 54 minutes into the first game.
