Interesting video on the YouTube Fully Charged channel regarding FGR and their environmental stance / influence on football:

Love or loath them FGR have been the pioneers in bringing environmental issues into football.

Now we have progressive owners, coupled with industry leading green tech sponsors, maybe we will be following suit (minus the vegan bit  )?

Pub team

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I think all 4 corners of the ground should have decent vegan options. There have been some fantastic vendors but if they want to continue, cater for vegans. My kids are dairy intolerant and one is egg intolerant too. If something is vegan, I can buy it without worrying.

Tell them to be more tolerant.

If only it was that simple! It's more of an allergy but it's not anaphylactic so it's easier to say intolerant as they can eat things prepared around it. Leading a more plant based diet is sustainable so I think 1878 should be ensuring it's available as it's inclusive.

I was being facetious, sorry mate. Long day.

I’m sure this kind of thing is being thought about; I think this season just gone is the first time I’ve eaten any food bought inside Blundell Park since about 1994. Great to see the improvements made, fair point about catering for those with dietary requirements.

I hear the food vendors this year have been excellent. I’ve never bought anything to eat in a football for years other than a rare treat at kiddy before the bloke died.

Im sure they’re looking at other styles and vegan friendly options etc. that said, FVR have got a lot right but the move to purely vegan options is not something I agree with.

Long term, FGR are moving forward as a club. People will call them a pub team, mock their attendances and so forth but in reality they’re streets ahead of many league clubs and for all the ‘it’s not sustainable’ or ‘it’ll go bang’ jibes, I just can’t see it. It would’ve gone by now…

I got the tone of your response, don't worry. I would probably love the food on offer at FGR but like Aldi said, I'm not a fan of it being vegan or nothing. I'm not vegan, but I do eat a more plant based diet these days and haven't eaten red meat for a good few years but it's 2022 and I would really like to see the club engaging with vendors to provide high quality alternatives as part of their menu.

Is relocating from a relatively modern stadium with good enough facilities within walking distance of most of Nailsworth sustainable/ green? Particularly when the stadium is going to be located on a motorway junction. I don't have much against the Vegan stuff but I don't get the end game with FGR. I don't think the area can sustain championship attendances or league 1 for that matter.

To be fair there is some lovely vegan food out there, but I'm not sure I'd feel right trying to eat some dals with some roti and dosa. I'd be covered with the stuff, head to toe, after trying to eat that without a plate.

Not sure I'd be interested in too much other sort of vegan fare, but then I do have a nut allergy which rules me out of half of the hippy stuff vegans eat.

Hippy stuff?

It's not all nut cutlets being a vegan.

It's pretty unusual for many of the vegan options on offer in restaurants not to contain nuts, in my experience. Admittedly, I'm not even a veggie so tend to have something with meat or fish more often than not, but I rarely find the vegan choice is something I could eat due to the allergy situation. I love dals and many vegetarian Indian dishes, however. Luckily, most of these don't contain nuts.
