Or of any currently for sale?

I purchased one of ebay about seven years ago for a 'buy it now' price of £150.
My feelings at the time was that I got an absolute bargain. Those feelings are still the same as every one that has come up on ebay since have gone for more than £200.

They go for £500+

https://www.grahambuddauctions.....ford-25th-march-1939

just to put that in perspective, I wonder what the match receipts were for the game? 500 quid is about 1.5d per spectator (240d in a £). Probably not far off what it cost to get in!

Was just thinking this, always gets overlooked because of the mad crowd at Old Trafford…

I’ve tried a few times for the 1939 one. I got close on one occasion but it went for a little over £400 in the end and I know my missus would have my balls in the toaster again if she found out, so I reined myself in.

I’ve wanted it for a long time, in part since my grandad took my grandma to that game and he often used to recount stories about the day to me when I was a football mad nipper. The manic journey, the crushes in the crowd, the game, the players of the era - Hall, Betmead, Buck. Then how he was hauled off to fight in WWII just a matter of weeks later.

Maybe one day I’ll manage it without testes on toast getting served up.

I have that one as well .... at a cost of £70.

The downside was that it came from a bound volume of programmes and didn't  have a cover. I did manage to obtain a replica cover for it though.

Sometimes you get lucky on ebay .... I have been very lucky twice.

There was a 1939 programme advertised about 3 years at an auction.  In Suffolk I think.  There a reference to the sale on here.  The programme was In good condition with no ink markings in it etc.

It went for about £250, less than expected. A very good price.   I wished afterwards that I had put a bid in.  I believe my dad and grandfather went to the game.  Sadly, my father could not remember when in his last year.

There was a picture of the 1939 programme cover in Crawley match day programme last Sat. The brief article also confirmed that there only 8 pages.  Still a piece of history that is unlikely to be matched.  The article also said that both teams still had the same nickname more than 80 years on.

Thank you, I bought one today and was a little shocked to find it was only 2 sheets of paper. I wasn’t expecting the 60 page glossy programmes we see today, but was looking forward to spending a bit of time reading it.
