Be hard matches tbf

Blyth aren't the best this season, you'd batter them.

Shields on the other hand are Full-Time in the league below us and are spending big £££ - Wouldn't surprise me if they beat Scunthorpe tomorrow.

Although if we draw Anstey Nomads I'd rather play them at their place, they sound like they travel well.

Got beat 1-0 by Hyde, disappointing not to have a cup run but all focus on the league right now.

Win tomorrow and we're top - On the back of 6 league wins on the bounce. Got a good feel-good factor around the place at the minute.

Blimey, I’ve reffed 7 of the teams in the draw.
For me it’s Basford away, they used to be in the Notts Alliance, the equivalent of the Lincs League. A really old club with a decent history, also a big link to us in Liam Hearn.

Batch, Crombie, Moore K, Wiggington, Cumming, Waters, Bonnyman, Ford, Emson, Drinkell, Whymark. Love you all, You are the reason I'm on here. You've had help from Todd, Handyside, Futcher P, Groves, Mendonca, Macca etc etc etc. Up The Mariners!!!!!!!!!

Not that helpful but seeing as it is a small market town not much bigger than Humberston (in fact probably smaller) I’d be able to tell you where to park and the in-laws may have space for 3 or 4 on their drive! If you’ve ever been to Immingham Town’s ground it’s not dissimilar to that for parking with pretty much zero to nil areas to park!

Alvechurch at home I’d be happy with, Wrexham away would be quite interesting though.

Any less demanding tie will do. Give some of the squad players game time.

The important thing is to get through to the third round when a match against one of the big guns becomes possible.

Just up the road from me about 12 miles.

I hope its on TV if we get them as i am still recovering from major heart surgery and waiting for op on my lung so not fit enough to travel the short distance
.
There is a train station at Needham if any town fans go by train.

You could always hop off at Thurston and come round for a cup of tea. 🤣

Yep, that’s about the worst draw we could have asked for. The highest ranked team in the draw, at home where we’ve not been great, and not particularly exciting.

Never mind.

I actually think it’s a good draw . A chance to knock a good side out in front of a decent crowd hopefully. It’s what the cup is all about.

Why is everyone thinking it's an awful draw ? Do you really think they are over the moon about coming here ? A banana skin for them .Hurst will have them well up for it . Will they be ?  They may give some non regulars a start . A great chance to show what we are made of .

Not sure about all this " crap draw" malarkey. Home draw against a top team. Full strength team, decent crowd - certainly a test to see how far we've come. Looking forward to it!

Don't understand the negativity. A good side at home with a decent away support so should be a cracking atmosphere and a chance for the lads to show what they're made of. A win will give them a massive confidence boost but even a defeat gives them great experience playing against better players. What's not to like? 🤔

I was just thinking the same thing .
Wolves was top of the old 3rd division and Steve Bull was knocking goals in for fun .
We beat them then beat Rotherham in the next round who was top of division 4 .
We went on to have one of our most famous cup runs.

It’s all open to interpretation. At this stage of the competition, there are no true plum draws, so I’d have liked at least one of the following to be true:

- Easy looking tie
- Good away day / nice ground
- Home game against a side that will fill the away end
- Someone we’ve not played before / in a while

Plymouth don’t really tick any of those boxes for me, but I can understand why others might see it differently.

St Ives Town away, my boats moored in a marina there so would be handy for one Town fan 🤓. Didn’t even know they had a football team TBH.

Ah, at least 3 people jealous that I own a boat.  Never mind eh, spunk your money on mobile phones and Sky TV, nights in the pub etc.  kids eating beans on toast but hey, they’ve got Nike trainers and a week at Skeggie to ‘boast’ about, you’ve got a new tattoo to impress your equally stupid pals with.  Never your fault, company’s crap (in the rare cases of being arśed to work), it’s because of all the foreigners, always someone else’s fault.

Good draw I think. A good test for the squad, potentially on telly, should see a large crowd (they might bring a few if it’s priced right) and a chance of making the second round draw slightly easier by knocking one of the better teams out.

Good draw this, they have loads of exiles and travel well so they'll bring a big following considering the distance and make some noise. Seemed to remember we stopped them winning the title when they came to BP last.

They are averaging nearly 15,000 at home.  Given their impressive results this season, they should bring a large following. Despite the distance.   Any of the other 78 teams would have been easier on paper.  A formidable test for us.  We should rise to the occasion.

FPVmariner to sponsor the match?  (See above post).  He sounds loaded.

Mean to to add:

Plymouth might see promotion as their prime objective.  The same reason that highflying Notts County and Bromley both least at home in the FAC at the weekend.

You get out of life what you put in, contribute fúck all and you deserve fúck all.  Wake up, smell the coffee and stop blaming everyone else for what’s in your control.

Its funny that people see Plymouth who are top as a crap draw yet I guess most fans would have seen Sheff Wed at home as a great draw and their third!

well... yes Sheff W would be better... We'd have a total sell out... With Plymouth i'll be suprised if 6k turn up

You tried bragging about your boat and salary a few years ago, when you had the name Ferrers,  something or other. I presume you live in Higham Ferrers which is hardly a highspot of Northants. Is your boat still in Jones Boatyard?

Wow, just wow! Beans on toast? Boat envy? Skeg holiday boasts? Where the hell did that come from? Either your account’s been hacked, you’ve got a brilliant sense of absurd humour or you’re a total and utter knob. Which is it?

Good draw, if we believe we are good enough to be promoted we need the players to show they are up to the challenge of playing teams like this. It will give us an idea of who could make the step up

Agree a good test for us to see how good we are,

There should be a decent gate and a chance it will be on TV.

It's time we had a good cup run .

So happy with the draw whether we win or lose.

Agree with all those who say its a good draw.

Nothing to loose, hope we put our best team out and go out and test ourselves against a very good team. Will tell us exactly where we are in our progression.

Will also tell us which of our players can handle league one next season after our promotion!!

If they are still top in a couple of weeks then they might rest a few players. I think being the underdog suits Hurst and the team he's assembled. We weren't favourites for 3 games in 2 weeks yet somehow found a way each time.

If we're planning to win this competition, we've got to be prepared to beat everyone, so might as well start with Plymouth.

Characterising Grimsby fans as jobless leeches, very original. If being rich makes you act like a sharp object like you are being then I'll stick to being a happy working class bloke thanks.

As for the actual topic good tie which will serve as a stern test for the team. Nothing to lose really we lose well they are top of league 1, and we can concentrate on flirting with the playoff places. We win and its a fantastic win that could go on to have a good cup run.

I’ve always fancied having a boat myself to be fair .
I’m not sure I’d want to sail it in UK waters though , I always imagined myself sailing around the Caribbean with a few 25 year old super models as crew and me with my captains hat on.

There’s nothing wrong with living your life like a Duran Duran music video as long as you still follow the Town

I think I know why you took your boat to St. Ives. In the G.E.T. it says people are disgusted at the low level of water in Cleethorpes Boating Lake.- not deep enough for ducks to swim or for model boats

Complaints about the draw? Nothing we can do about it really. Third round comes along and we play the premiershite leaders, what then? More cause for complaints as we’re not playing Tipton miners welfare reserves?

Pleased we aren’t..tricky tie that..their tunnel isn’t like standard footy grounds..theirs a 4 mile walk underground, through various caves and obstacles before you even get to the pitch.
