This thread and some of the posts are embarrassing, Southampton manager gets the boot and it turns into “another” pile on about a 19 year old lad who’s only learning and trying to make his way in the game.

Southampton are a much bigger club than Luton. When does a manager from lower down ever get the opportunity to manage a Premier League club that's not hovering around the relegation spots? In that league, the difference between mid table and relegation battle is 2 wins. I'd have thought it's be millions of pounds a year to manage Southampton, it's a fantastic opportunity at a club that has been well run for quite a while.

It's not just the position in the table though. They've battled relegation for 4 of the last 5 years, as Golly points out chronically under invested in the squad despite player sales and yet still racked up a debt of around £100mill isn't it?

As said, there's better options out there if he's prepared to wait a bit longer. My surprise is that he won't err more on the side of caution having felt a big bite when he went to Stoke.

It’s not a pile on. Another overreaction. It’s just me. It’s just me challenging opinion about a ‘19 year old trying to make his way in the game’.

Unless Luton are happy the way we are coaching Pepple, if I was Luton I'd be looking at recalling him and sending him elsewhere for more game time, maybe national league

Nathan Jones has agreed terms with Southampton.

Hope it goes well for him, it's good to see a young manager given another chance.

Jones to Southampton confirmed on BBC News this morning.

Will that effect how McAtee is received ?

Chance of another season loan if they are striker heavy?

Think we need to get this season done, shake McAtee’s hand and then draw a line under it. We can’t have another Amond/Bogle situation where we spend half a decade (or more) pining for one former player.

At this stage we want the club to be turning out players like McAtee every season, getting a good couple of years out of them & selling them on to fund the next prospect. Maybe we’ll sign the next McAtee in January? Who knows.

I agree with this, and I'm sure Hursty's not daft enough to make assumptions based on hypotheticals such as this one. Hence, I dare so he's on the look out for the next McAtee rather than trying to prolong the inevitable with McAtee.

Kud?
‘No disrespect to him - but he’s useless’?!
I’m sure he’ll be ok with that.
‘Bled’ our own ‘young guns? What? From what ‘you’ve seen’ you’d rather we kept Essel and not Peppel. Right. How many times have you watched Essel? You know the professionals in charge have loaned Essel to a club several leagues below us, and persist with Peppell, despite you saying he’s ‘useless right? Is it possible that you’re daft and your opinion is worthless?

Erm....... don't we have to persist with Pepple as he is on loan with us.
