Manure away 😜

Dead Eye Dobbin stood motionless waiting, waiting, waiting for the ball to arrive. Back came the right foot, Down came the right foot, Bang ! Headlines around the world as the ball flew into the very top right hand corner of the goal.( Jim Dobbin scoring in the 89th minute for Town against Newcastle United away 24/10/1992 )

I can’t be bothered to look but are there any other teams that have beaten 3 teams in a higher league to reach this far? Surely we deserve a big away tie!

Then one of the scummy super clubs in 5th round.

Oh dear

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Personally, Leeds away would be great but the big one none of us will have ever seen is Man United. The coverage for the club as well as the buzz around the town will be unbelievable.

Hmm wasn't the last gate at Man U when we played there about 80,000. I might be wrong but it could be a sellout!

Great result! I'd love to get United away, or failing that Spurs, but with only 14 top flight teams left in the competition we're quite likely to get Preston, Reading, Fleetwood, Blackpool, or (insert another unglamorous tie).

Don't we still hold the record, along with Wolves of the highest crowd in a FA Cup semi final,  76,962 was recorded at Old Trafford for an FA Cup Semi Final between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Grimsby Town 25 March 1939.

Any of the big prem sides away or a winnable home tie, although ideally we need to give BP pitch some time to recover, less games the better on it

I want one of these AWAY fixtures next
Southampton (new ground)
Tottenham (new ground)
Manchester United (it’s about time)
Sunderland (great ground could go with my daughter Jessie)
Brighton (other daughter’s boyfriend’s team)

Or at home…
Boreham Wood

We have earned £213,000 in winnings in this competition so far and takings from crowds too.
On top of that TV earnings today.
Hurst - Don’t dare tell me we cannot splash out in this transfer window!

Man Utd or sheff wed away. Or boreham wood at home. Only team I don’t want home or away would be Wrexham!

I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

From the black and white striped shirts
To the fish in the sea
You'll hear us singing
Coz we are Grimsby.

You won't hear us crying
But you'll hear us shout
Coz we are the Grimsby
And this is our chant.......... Grimsby! Grimsby! Grimsby!

And then the holders away in the fifth round where we dominate for an hour and miss a really good chance to go 2 up and then unfortunately fall just short?

What is the prize money for winning in R4? Would that balance a big away gate?

£120k, so same again, basically. Not to be sniffed at, but nothing compared to what an away tie at Man Yoo or Spurs would guarantee.

Of course, there’d still fe the possibility of that in round 5…

So we banked 100k plus today, we have smart owners, round 4 will give us some more money, this should lay the foundation of a sensible run financial football club. Many football clubs sadly are not doing financially well, round 4 should secure our financial future for many years to come. UTM

Fancy a new ground for the next round...

So,
Wigan, Brighton, Fleetwood, Tottenham, Southampton, Man Utd, Swansea, Cardiff or Arsenal.

Man U away, but we’ll probably end up with Fleetwood away.

Of course Wrexham will get a money spinner and that f*****g dinosaur Parkinson can “put them to the sword”.

If we get Spurs Man Utd or any big club away about 10000 tickets will be available a few more if we get Utd.

It will not be enough because you will find we have 20.000 fans who.will want to go .

Fancy a new ground for the next round...

So,
Wigan, Brighton, Fleetwood, Tottenham, Southampton, Man Utd, Swansea, Cardiff or Arsenal.

Happy with most of them except Fleetwood and Wigan!

We have done really well to get this far in the competition beating 3 teams in the league above. Now though is the time we need to cash in our chips and get one of those teams that will guarantee a live television appearance like Manchester Utd, Manchester City or Wrexham.

A big away day. Then we’d have a good idea of additional income before the window closes.

Not just the money as such but being able to tell a signing he might be playing at Old Trafford or the Spurs stadium at the end of this month would definitely interest players.

I want one of these AWAY fixtures next
Southampton (new ground)
Tottenham (new ground)
Manchester United (it’s about time)
Sunderland (great ground could go with my daughter Jessie)
Brighton (other daughter’s boyfriend’s team)

Or at home…
Boreham Wood

We have earned £213,000 in winnings in this competition so far and takings from crowds too.
On top of that TV earnings today.
Hurst - Don’t dare tell me we cannot splash out in this transfer window!

Interesting what people term new grounds, St Mary’s is 22 years old this year and the Stadium of Light 26 years old.

We have now made £213k in prize money plus the share of gate receipts, so must have netted over a quarter of a million from this cup run so far with more to come.

Once all of the remaining ties and replays have been completed, it looks highly likely we will be the third-lowest ranked team left in the competition.

You would think a half-decent draw would give us a decent chance of being selected for TV, save for a load of Man Utd v Man City type draws.

Fingers crossed!

Just remember, every time we mention who we don’t want, our name is being mentioned on the retrospective message boards too.

Have a feeling it could be Ipswich or Preston at home

£213,000 in prize money, £37,500 from TV c£75,000 from the gate receipts over 3 games plus the Papa Johns money plus c£100,000 in League Cup gate receipts. With a 4th round tie to come we are looking at having made over half a million quid from our cup successes.
As well as being very good owners 1878 are turning out to be very lucky owners as well

Have you seen the ESPN viewing figures for Wrexham games in the US? It has to be away at Wrexham "The Rematch" with a draw and then, after releasing Three Day Millionaire over there, back to BP for "The Rumble at Blundell - The Decider", the viewing figures will go through the roof, and we'll get a big following over there with our Three Day Millionaire anti-heroes...

As soon as Luton came out, I knew it would be us. The FA cup always seems to throw up these connections.

On the way out of the ground last night, I heard the Wigan score and thought I hope we don't get someone like them away. Tough game and not a massive pay day crowd wise.

Ah well, it is what it is.

Well it ain't going to be on the regular telly channels then so no real TV money incoming. At least we might get it on that Polish sports channel with those good set of Polish lads on commentary.

I don't think we could have had much worse than that. McAtee will be ineligible if it's Luton too, I'd imagine.

No real money from it, not obviously winnable. I’ll agree that this is a shite one. If anything you’ve got to hope Wigan get through so we can have a big following and a slightly bigger chance of progression or at least a replay.

We took on 3 from league 1 and won, so we've moved up a league to the championship. With the application, the game is winnable against either Luton or Wigan. It's a one off game and remember Chesterfield came within a whisker of beating WBA so anything is possible.

If it’s Luton away it’s just about as bad as it gets. Small ground, very good football side who we’ll stand very little chance of beating and to top it off our best player can’t play. At least Wigan might be a decent day out with a massive away end.

Can’t believe the negativity at this draw.
I can see Town in Round 5.
Last time - I was in the Scottish Highlands when Keith Alexander scored an early goal - 5000 inflatable haddock’s - prior to losing 3-1 against the eventual cup winners.
Feels like that again - remember watching us draw 1-1 against Reading in the previous Round. And then producing a ‘ballsy’ performance in the replay - against the odds.
All is possible

Disappointing to say the least. But we have a chance of beating either Luton or Wigan, I suppose. They won’t find us an easy team to beat, so we should be optmistic of pulling off a ’shock’.

Stevenage score in the 88th and 92nd minute to beat Aston Villa. Rule nothing out.

There's going to be a minimum of 7 non-Premier League sides in the last 16, and probably some more will get knocked out. Man City and Arsenal will meet in the next round. Good chance for someone (i.e. Us!) to sneak under the radar with a series of low-profile ties. Leave the big boys until later.

Only eight  Prem teams definitely in the next round, as it stands. 10 if Leeds win their reply and Arsenal beat Oxford.

Disappointing but on the other hand not an unwinnable game either.

If Stevenage can win at Villa Park  then we can certainly win at Luton or Wigan.

We just need to bring our A game and hope that we get the rub of the green on the day. Not mission impossible by any means.

Let's hope Wigan win !  i went to their very first game in the football league, i think John Newman was the manager & we won, then by chance i went to their very first Premier league game at home to Chelsea, it was called the JJB Stadium back then, i went several times with Chelsea and i must say it is a fantastic football ground, we will get a fantastic stand behind the goal which creates a great atmosphere, we will get a draw there and bring them home where we will beat them to go into round 5.

Of course, if it's Wigan, when did we last play such a, relatively, recent winner of the Cup?

If Wigan, then very poor home support.  We would not be playing in front of 50,000 home fans supporting their team and trying to influence the ref.  That is what we would get if we were playing at Old Trafford..
