Without a proper reserve league set up, like there used to be, it's impossible to arrange regular games. Pity really because I love a midweek afternoon trip to BP.

Once saw George McLean score four against Barnsley res, I think just before he became a regular. Their keepers first goal kick went straight to George who promptly put it in to the net. After that, every time the keeper had a goal kick, George stood on the edge of the penalty box beckoning him to kick  it to him again…. With a huge grin on his face! What a.character.

Genuinely thought that he was the next Ivano and would catapult us to the Premier League... Used to love the reserve games, nice competitive environment with a mix of players on the edge of the first team and promising youngsters.  This was the same for all sides so it wasn't the glorified youth game they became in later years. Many things have contributed to the demise of the reserve leagues, none less so than the Premier League's obsession with their Academy/Under 23 sides.

Not quite. The main stand was fairly full, and they opened the corner between the Main and Osmond if my memory serves me correct. I was the Head Steward for that match. It was the only Reserve game I remember that had a Police presence too, just because of the numbers that were expected.
