Conundrum of the century we have a league one wing back who was signed as a no.9 who should surely bring that attacking intent to the formation.

Can't for the life of me understand why we haven't tried Pyke as a wing back.

Great point and although I hadn't thought about it myself you would think the manager, the coaches and the player himself might have mentioned it.

If they have thought about it but not utilised it what would be the rationale there?

Perhaps he isn't fit enough.

I agree, we need to stick with 5 at the back. Mullarkey, Rodgers and Tharme are working pretty well together and I sense that this is the formation the team feels most comfortable with. I thought Liam Smith did ok on Monday, he probably didn't get up as much as Clifton does, but Harry's the more natural midfielder whilst Smith is probably your traditional right back?

Don't really disagree with any of the previous posts about using Glennon, Khouri, Ainley, Vernam and Pyke however I would question whether any of those have got 90 minutes in the legs, and certainly not with a sat / tues coming up. It's a proper conundrum and getting the most effective combinations of players on the pitch.

Stick to 5. Keep it tight and work very hard on improving our attacking set pieces.

Could it be a case like Mitch Rose who never mentioned he had a mahoosive throw until Jolley saw him launch it one day in training?

Sometimes you hear these things and do wonder how on earth can someone just not know things like that.

I'd stick with the back 5 purely because we can't trust Glennon, Mullarkey or Rodgers in a back four and partly because Eastwood has barely played for months so is likely rusty and we need to minimise crosses in to the box. The current midfield three aren't supporting the strikers so I'd put Vernam central just behind the front two. Both Rose and Wilson have shown they can hold it up, if there's two options to play to and Vernam has the ability to run at the opposition it might give us more of an outlet than we had yesterday. Two holding midfielders could allow Glennon and Clifton to get forward a bit more without exposing us.

                Eastwood
Clifton Mullarkey Tharme Rodgers Glennon
           Thompson   Andrews
                        Vernam
               Rose      Wilson

Nailed it!
