"No disrespect to the likes of Grimsby..."

sunday 2nd march

Sleet-Ridden Grimsby

From: WBA Rivals Site.

As I said yesterday, we travelled to The Old Cross in Langley to watch the game. Wulves had laid on 25 free coaches for their supporters travelling to tonight's fixture, which was a nice gesture from The Golden Tit, I suppose. Shame they had a wasted journey, though! When I heard that news item, my immediate thought was: 'wouldn't it have been nice if our away-travel regulars - the 400 who travelled to Grimsby just before Christmas for a sleet-ridden freezing godawful night game some two seasons ago, say - could have been rewarded for their loyalty through adversity in similar fashion?' Sorry about that small gripe - back to the business in hand.

Martin O'Neill

From: the BBC.

Former Leicester manager Martin O'Neill has forecast the full impact of relegation will not hit the Foxes until they see the Division One fixture list.

O'Neill made the comments after taking his Celtic side to Filbert Street for a friendly and was given a standing ovation by an 18,000 crowd.

He said the initial hurt of relegation will reappear when Leicester see themselves paired with the likes of Grimsby, Rotherham and Gillingham instead of Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.

O'Neill said: "It goes without saying that I'm disappointed at what's happened to Leicester.

"But things like that can happen, although I don't think it will really sink in until they see the fixture list next season.

"While this was a nice occasion, the effects will be over and done with in a couple of days.

"Then the force of what has happened will hit them later on."

Jimmy Hill's Sunday Supplement

From: Sky Sports One.

If Blackburn get relegated having won the Worthington Cup they would be playing the likes of Grimsby on a Saturday whilst competing in Europe next season.
