Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Well Done! - Lennie

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 14/03/2001

In the post match interview after the Wimbledon game tonight manager Lennie Lawrence heaped praise on the players for answering his call for total commitment.

"Before the game we had a chat and I told them not to let any outside matters interfere in the game. I said we had to refocus and for every minute of the game nothing less than total commitment would do and that is what happened" said the Grimsby boss.

"We still didn't make enough chances given the pressure, but nevertheless that's a massive improvement on what we've seen.

"That's the best we've played going forward for a long, long, long time." the Grimsby manager enthused. "I don't think we've ever put so many balls into the opponent's penalty area than we have tonight since I have been here, and that's a good thing. It was a massive improvement and the players deserve praise"

"The players have answered the questions, they've shown they're up for it, they've shown they care and they got a reward against a team that defended resolutely. We must make sure we do not lose to QPR on Saturday"

"I'm sure four wins would get us out of it. If that form is reproduced, I think it would have been enough to beat most teams in this league."
