Green-less Reserves Defeat Imps

By: Paul Holmes
Date: 03/10/2001

GRIMSBY TOWN reserves today beat their Lincoln counterparts 1-0 thanks to a first half goal by Chris Thompson. Featuring for Town was French attacker Hoalid Regragui, but absent was Wolves defender Ryan Green who will not be coming to Blundell Park after a mix-up between his club and Grimsby.

Town believed Wolves were willing to let Ryan Green come on trial to Blundell Park, but in fact the West Midlands outfit wanted to offload the right back straight away with no trial period. The two clubs may yet agree some compromise, but for the moment any deal is off.

According to reports Town were the better team and were unlucky not to have won by more. Chris Thompson's goal was a delicate lob after 34 minutes. Stacy Coldicott also returned to action at Sincil Bank, replacing Robbie Busscher at half time, as planned.

Town team: Ronald Ermes, Iain Ward (David Morgan 59), Simon Ford, Ben Chapman, Gary Moran, Hoalid Regragui, Chris Bolder, Robbie Busscher (Stacy Coldicott h/t), Darren Mansaram, Chris Thompson, Graham Hockless (Wes Parker 73).

Subs (not used): Morgan Cranley, Stephen Downes.

Lincoln City: Darren Horrigan, Chris Davies, Paul Mayo, Grant Brown, Dwane Soar, Justin Walker (Daniel Bent 61), Mark Camm, Chris McConville, Dave Cameron, Darren Smith (Adam Kerley h/t), Adam Buckley (Grant Pinkney 53).

Sub (not used): Gary Cochrane.

The Fishy is looking for a reporter for reserve games, as Paul Holmes is unable to attend matches any more in the afternoon at Blundell Park due to college commitments. If you are interested in covering some or all of the games send an e-mail to Rob Sedgwick.
