Where will Grimsby finish?

Groves Drops Jevons

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 15/02/2002

PAUL GROVES said today he will drop top scorer Phil Jevons to the bench after a lacklustre display in the Watford game and hand a first start of the year to Bradley Allen or Mick Jeffrey to deliver the first goal at Blundell Park in 2002.

"We'd love a goal and a bit of luck at the right time," said Groves to the Grimsby Telegraph. "We need something to hang onto. I don't mind if it's lucky. As long we get three points I don't care how it goes in."

"It would be nice to get a bit of luck given the way the last two games have gone. But if you work hard enough that bit of luck will come your way."

"Virtually everybody is ready and that's good for us. If people get the shirt and do well they'll stay in. The clock is ticking down all the time. It's another big game for us and we want to do well at home. "One win could give us a massive lift and if we get it I believe we could go on from there."

Grimsby Town: Coyne, McDermott, Gallimore, Raven, Ford, Groves, Campbell, Burnett, Coldicott, Willems, Boulding, Allen, Jeffrey, Croudson, Butterfield, Jevons, D Smith.
