TOWN began their pre-season preparations with a comfortable 4-0 victory at local non-league side Brigg Town. Transfer-listed Phil Jevons netted the first goal after just five minutes, and Tony Gallimore scored the second from a 25-yard free kick.

In the second half Town added two more goals, with Jonny Rowan putting Grimsby three up with fifteen minutes to go, and Italian youth player Giovanni Carchedi grabbing the fourth late in the game.
