Santos Is Back At BP - So Far, So Good!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 28/11/2002

GEORGES Santos has returned to Blundell Park and is reported to be back in training after weeks of talks, talks and more talks. It is expected that he will sign a contract over the next few days. Or so the club say.

But things are never quite what they seem when the Mariners want players to sign and although it is unlikely he would back out at this stage, Paul Groves should keep him under lock and key until he puts pen to paper.

A rumour is already circulating that Warnock has been seen hovering vulture like over Blundell Park.

The good news for Town is that the three match ban he got for his red card has "technically" been served.

The bad news is that there has been no statement so far that he will be in the Town squad tomorrow, but that may come later.

Santos told the Grimsby Telegraph; "The talks were brilliant and I'm glad to be back in Grimsby. I missed my football."

"I came back to Grimsby this morning to train and I want to finish doing the job I started."

"The ban is gone now and I'm ready to come back and play games. I had a good chat with the manager and everything is fine."

"I want to sign by the end of this week or at the start of next week. I've been training hard in France and I've come back for the team spirit."

"That's why I'm here, to play football. I tried my best in the games that I played before and it was a shame to be sent off."

"But I think the manager, the players and the fans were happy with me."
