Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Groves Gets his Man!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 19/09/2003

SHEFFIELD United striker Iffy Onuora has signed on a month's loan for Grimsby and the 36-year-old target man will start against Chesterfield tomorrow. Onuora had been on loan to Wycombe from the Blades last month, and played against the Mariners for the Chairboys earlier this season.

The 6'2" forward has played for a number of clubs outside the top flight including Swindon, Gillingham (where he was probably best known to Town fans) and Huddersfield, and hopefully his physical presence up front alongside Michael Boulding is exactly what the Mariners need to kick-start their season.

Onuora is the second loan signing of a busy day for Paul Groves, who earlier on snapped up Rotherham midfielder Nicky Daws for a month.

The pair are expected to both start against Chesterfield and after a poor spell for Grimsby should strengthen the team in both the middle of the park and up front, where Town have been hurt most by recent injuries. Paul Groves has, in addition to injuries, been trying to get a striker since the departure of Ten Heuvel.
