Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Will Hockless Stay?

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 17/05/2004

GRIMSBY Town's young player of the year, Graham Hockless, talks about his hopes next season if he signs for the Mariners, which is not guaranteed!

Hockless, talking to the Grimsby Telegraph said; "It has been frustrating for me this year - there's no doubt about that. I have only been involved in a handful of games and even then it's mainly been from the subs bench. It is hard when you only get a few minutes to show glimpses of what you can do because you feel you don't have enough time to make an impact.

"In the last few games, I came on to score and set one up - but was still on the bench for the next match. It's difficult because as a footballer you want to playing all the time - whatever level you are at. Any deal has to be right for me at this stage in my career. Although I am still young at 21, in football terms I am not so youthful. "I need to be playing regularly now because this is how I earn my living."

"I've been a professional here three years this summer but am still to have an extended run in the team. Now we have the possibility of a new manager coming in and he will have his own ideas. We'll just have to wait and see what happens over the next few weeks."

"The fans here are great with me. They always chant my name when I'm on the bench and gave me a great reception at the awards night. It says a lot that they back me when I have only played a handful of games this season."
