We Need A Striker! - No We Don't!

By: Fishy Subscribers
Date: 24/11/2004

RUSSELL Slade has announced that he is still looking for a striker. News that pleases some but worries other who believe we have all we need. We look at the feedback on the subject from Fishy subscribers.

Stu Cox thinks we should be looking for a striker but a bit nearer to home.

Russel Slade is looking for a new striker so why don't we get one of the ones back in who were on trial with the mariners instead of gambling with the Rotherham players who can't get a game when their team can't get a win and the Stockport players who are in the same situation who also at the moment can't win.

At least with signing a player who has been on trial Russell knows how he plays and will be able to fit him in somehow I remember going to Brigg in the pre season friendly and I was very impressed with Yannick Kamanan

I thought he was the first to be offered a contract and although we did see the emergence of a Youth player in Danny North on the bench, it wouldn't be fair on him as Kidderminster were a physical side and he's still "growing." Another trialist I thought we were going to sign was ABDUL because of the fans we loved him I was quite impressed as he could of been used as the target man instead of the 5ft something Andy Parkinson.

Mansaram had a good loan spell at Halifax so he must be in contention somewhere for a place in the team???

Well I would love to see Kamanan or Abdul back here. But Russ is the manager and it's his team but I'm just suggesting on behalf of myself and the fellow Mariners fans who are also with me on this one!

wycombemariner on the other hand, doesn't think we need one at all

Why the (expletive) are we still trying for a striker when Reddy is back for the next game, Parky is on fire (without actually scoring) and the new Striker (Cramb) was MoM on Saturday?

Re: Parky - when one goes in they'll be no stopping him!!!

Denby does not agree!

Parky reminded me of Steve Saunders on Saturday. Lots of running about but zero end product. I thought he had an awful match up front and proved that a striker he is not!

But Tony_GTFC agrees with Wycombe Mariner;

Too right. I've consistently said we have everything we need in the building now to get promoted. It's just a matter of putting the pieces in the right places.

( I hope Slade is good at jigsaw puzzles then! - Ed.)
