RUSSELL Slade is still hoping to sign two or three more players before the start of the new season, but is prepared to wait for the right individuals to come along rather than rush into new signings. "There is plenty of time, we don't need to rush," said the Town boss.

Meanwhile the squad are said to progressing well at their army "boot camp" in Cambridgeshire. "They are really getting into it and have been working together in everything. They are having to live in each other's pockets 24-7 and that is a new experience for them," said Slade.

A 20 man squad have made the journey to the boot camp, including former Lincoln City midfielder Ciaran Toner, who is on trial with Town. On Wednesday Grimsby will feature some more trial players in a reserve friendly at Bridlington

  • In other news today the club have announced that season tickets sales have topped the £200K mark, which equates to more tickets than had been sold at the same time last year.

  • The reserves this season will now play a new look Pontins League Division One East, along with Darlington, Doncaster, Hartlepool, Hull City, Lincoln City, Scarborough, Scunthorpe, York and Sheffield United B. Reserve matches at Blundell Park will once again be evening kick-offs, after several years of afternoon games.
