Wrexham Player Ratings

By: Jake Olley
Date: 02/04/2006

IT was a professional performance by the Mariners as they bounced back from the humiliating defeat at Lincoln. Not only did Grimsby grab three points, but they also kept a clean sheet, although it was never plain sailing until the last minute or so.

Steve Mildenhall Looked safe and solid. 7
John McDermott Got down the flanks well and organised the team. 8
Rob Jones Returned and did well. Fantastically denied Wrexham a goal with his header over the bar.7
Justin Whittle Despite the embarrassment of being substituted at half time he returned and didn't have a lot to do except hoof the ball forward, which he really need to work on.6
Tom Newey I must admit he did okay today going forward but defensively still looks poor and I will judge him on his defending as he is a left back. 6
Marc Goodfellow Looked like a real good footballer and far too good for this league at first. His tricks added a different dimension which will be a real asset to the club in this crucial run-in.
Curtis Woodhouse Dominated the midfield area well and set up the first goal with a tidy ball. He seems to be Town's best link-up player and is starting to form a really good partnership with Bolland in the centre of midfield. 8
Paul Bolland Did well in midfield and grafted to win the ball on a number of occasions. Is many people's Player of the Season and definitely in the top three in my eyes. 7
Gary Cohen Again he fought for the cause and really looked as if he wanted it today. Overdid it when he was forced off after he came off worse in one of his crunching tackles. 7
Michael Reddy Chased well and scored a goal, what more can you ask? After a sticky patch he really seemed himself today and his cool finish showed that. 7
Gary Jones Battled well and scored one and set up one, perfect! He has really turned it on when Town needed him too and looks one of the buys of the year on a free transfer. 7
Andy Parkinson (sub). Looked creative and nippy though his final product was lacking. 7
Ref RatingBetter than usual but missed a clear hand-ball. 6
Attendance: 6058, Target 6000 hit!
