Rodger Makes it a Double!

BLACKBURN midfielder Gary Harkins is Graham Rodger's second acquisition of the day, signing a two year contract at Blundell Park. The 21-year-old, who Rodger has been tracking for over two years, is at the opposite end of his playing career from 40-year-old Peter Beagrie who also joined Town today.

Harkins was recently handed a new deal with Blackburn in the wake of a promising season in the Premiership club's reserve team's central midfield. The 6'1" Scot has also had league experience with loan spells at Blackpool, Bury and Huddersfield. Last season Harkins also scored 2 goals in 5 games for the Seasiders.

No details of any transfer fee have yet been released, but given that Harkins has just signed a new contract at Ewood Park, a fee may have been involved.

Both players are expected to make their Grimsby debuts in the friendly at Gainsborough Trinity on Friday.
