New Signing For Town

By: GTFC
Date: 15/08/2007

As the 2007/08 football season kicks off on Saturday, Grimsby Town Football Club and Compass FM have entered into a lucrative and exclusive broadcast agreement for an initial period of one year.

Both parties believe the arrangement will benefit the two companies whilst enhancing the service offered to listeners and Mariners fans alike and are hopeful the agreement will form the basis of a long term mutually beneficial relationship.

This brings to an end the uncertainty for fans across North East Lincolnshire who are unable to travel with the team to away matches. They will now be able to follow the Mariners fortunes by tuning into 96.4 FM for a full away match live commentary. The new service will be complimented by the broadcasting of regular reports from home games at Blundell Park.

Meanwhile fans will also be assured of hearing the most up-to-date news from the Mariners camp together with the latest news from across the sporting world every weekday in the radio stations four sports bulletins(07.30/08.30/16.30 and 17.30).

Compass FM will also be assuming responsibility for providing full match live commentaries on all home and away games for those subscribers to Mariners World.

Grimsby Town Chairman John Fenty said, "I am delighted with this partnership. It's a deal that is not only financially beneficial for the Club but puts behind us the difficulties over radio broadcasting in recent years. I am over the moon to be in an arrangement where the Club can work openly with its new partner to bring the fans the full picture from Blundell Park."

Richard Lyon, Compass FM Station Manager, also believes this is a great deal and said, "For over 100 years Grimsby Town has been at the heart of sporting life in North East Lincolnshire. It is entrenched within our community and as a truly local radio station committed to serving our listeners we are proud and privileged to have secured this opportunity and I believe we will deliver a unique experience for Mariners fans. We will also be looking to engender even greater support for the Club through on-air competitions."
