Reserves Beat Lincoln

By: Adam Haddock
Date: 21/09/2007

LINCOLN took the lead almost straight from the kick off (I couldn't see because of a million main stand posts in my way) the ball seemed to bounce around our area for an age with no-one able to clear before it eventually landed in the net.

We nearly equalised straight away, nice link up play between North and Jarman down the left allowed the latter to race into the box and slide the ball across to Bore whose side foot shot was well saved by the keeper down to his left.

The equaliser came after about 20 minutes. Jarman cut in from the left, was fed by Normington and he blasted a shot from 20 yards which the keeper spilled into the net.

A little later, Montgomery had to get his body in the way of a low, close range shot to put it out for a corner.

Town took the lead on the stroke of half time, we won a free kick just outside the box slightly right of centre, our number five (either Clarke or Courtley) whipped it into the top corner (there may have been a slight deflection).

In the second half Jones came close with two headers, Montgomery made another good save but Northy was frustrated by the poor service - especially from Bore.

Full time 2-1. Overall I'd say we were the better side with some crisp passing on the Deck and I thought North did enough to earn a start this Saturday. He was aggressive, tricky on the ball, and had the wing service been better may have scored a couple.
