Trotter Wants to Stay

IPSWICH midfielder Liam Trotter would like to extend his loan stay at Grimsby when his current deal comes to a end after Saturday's game at Exeter. The 20-year-old is keen to be involved in meaningful football, which he is very likely to get if he stays with Town.

"I'm happy to be playing football, to be honest. If Ipswich want me back and say they are going to play me then, obviously, I'd like to go back," Trotter told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"But if I'm just going to be returning to play in the reserves then I'll more than happily stay here.

"It's been a good experience for me. It's a different league and a different style of football - very different to what I'm used to. But I've got a lot out of it.

"I'm just surprised we haven't got a win while I've been here. The whole time I've had here, I've never for one moment thought that we are a bad team."

Grim Rob Says: Trotter has looked one of this season's better loan players and it would be good to hang on to him.

Postscript: Trotter's loan has been extended by a further month.
