Who will win League 2?

Grimsby v Newport Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 18/11/2011

MICHAEL Coulson will be one enforced absentee against Newport on Saturday at Blundell Park as the wide man is suspended for one game after receiving five yellow cards this campaign. However Town look to stick to a similar line up to that which managed a 0-0 draw at Port Vale last weekend.

The managerial duo switched to a 4-3-3 system for the clash with the League Two side and that, together with the presence of new signing Manny Panther in midfield, helped keep Vale at bay for most of the game. Serge Makofo is the obvious replacement for Coulson's position as the right of the front three, although he normally plays on the left, although perennial sub Anthony Elding is another possibility.

Besides the one enforced change it's unlikely the managers will alter much else. Left back Jamie Green is back in contention for a starting place but he'll do well to replace Connor Towsend in the side. Towsend has just two games with Town left on loan from Hull and Green may have to be patient until his departure before he can start a game.

For Newport captain Gary Warren (back) could return, but striker Elliott Buchanan (foot) is doubtful.

Newport were expected to challenge near the top of the table but have struggled at the wrong end of the Conference this season. They have played 5 out of the last 6 games at home so have not spent much time on the road recently.
