Grimsby v Telford Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 27/01/2012

GRIMSBY play AFC Telford for the first time in their history this Saturday and will be looking to continue their unbeaten run. Other than a knock which Elding is expected to recover from the Mariners have no injury worries.

With Town coming within a couple of minutes of making it seven consecutive wins on Tuesday night, but having to settle for a point at Barrow, it's unlikely that there will be any changes to the starting XI - providing Elding is fit. Town have a wealth of choices though in their big squad of in-form players to slot in should a change be required.

With a late charge for the play-off spots not out of the question the main target as ever will be three points despite the recent goal glut at Blundell Park. Entertaining though large wins undoubtedly are, most fans would settle for a boring 1-0 victory over a 4-4 thriller I suspect, with so much still to play for this season.

Telford United, managed by ex-England player Andy Sinton who played for QPR at Blundell Park when Town lost on penalties over 20 years ago, have midfielders Phil Trainer and Richard Davies suspended. Striker Marlon Jackson, on loan from Bristol City, is expected to return after injury though.

Telford have had a solid start to their first season at this level, and although there recent form isn't great, they have picked up something in nearly half their away games.
