Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

The Arena

It Is Now

GRIMSBY once again missed the chance to close the gap between themselves and the play-offs as they failed to beat Darlington at the Arena. With other results going their way it was another "if only" fixture, as the season draws to a disappointing climax.

If Town had taken maximum points from any of their recent games it would be a different story but, as it is. it looks like the pattern for the campaign is to be: poor start, good middle, poor end. Ironically it was pretty much the same last season, and Town look to be ending for a similar final position similar to what they managed in their first season at this level.

It was a game of few chances, with neither side managing to score. Town could have scored after nine minutes when an Andi Thanoj shot was tipped round the post by the Darlo 'keeper. But Darlo's Adam Rundle came closest to breaking the deadlock before the break when he forced too good saves out of McKeown.

After half time the Quakers hit the crossbar from a Taylor free-kick, and Hearn should have won the game for Town four minutes from the end but effort was blocked.

Both sides had to settle for a point, which ironically was not good enough for either of them.
