Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Oster: Return?
Oster: Return?

Grimsby v Gateshead Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/01/2014

PAUL Hurst will probably look to the same side which played for half an hour against Forest Green on Tuesday night, but into the equation comes new signing Jamal Fyfield. Fyfield can play anywhere across the back four, and could replace Chris Doig (neck) in central defence.

Kerr is another who could return. The midfielder has been missing since picking up an injury in the Boxing Day win over Lincoln. His absence has coincided with a mini-dip in form by Grimsby. He was almost ready for Forest Green, but it came a couple of days too earlier for the player/coach.

Centre back Clayton MacDonald (arm) is also close to returning for the Mariners, but is awaiting an X-ray on his arm to confirm it has healed.

Gateshead went above Grimsby in midweek, so Town will need to win to go back above the Tynesiders. 35-year-old John Oster is in their squad and could return from injury to face his old team. Gateshead have no injury doubts and expect to play the same side as at Aldershot, with the possible inclusion of Oster.
