Aldershot v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 29/08/2014

TOWN are expected to name an unnamed side for the visit to Aldershot, unsurprising given the team's commanding 7-0 drubbing on Alfreton on Bank Holiday Monday. Striker Ross Hannah though is available, so will likely take a place on the bench.

Hannah has missed all the season so far through injury so it's a welcome return from possibly the best finisher at the club, and a timely return after the departure of Alan Connell this week.

Nathan Arnold and Aswad Thomas still are ruled out with injuries, although Arnold is getting close to being involved with the first team again.

Aldershot, managed by Rob Scott's brother Andy, have only lost one game so far this season, and could represent Town's biggest threat yet. The Shots struggled at the wrong end of the table last season, but are expected to challenge at the other end this time around.

One player who Town will be familiar with is full back Sam Hatton, who was at Grimsby last season, but now operates in midfield for Aldershot. Hatton is a dead ball specialist and also has a good long throw, so Town will be aware of his threat.

Chris Barker (calf) could return for Aldershot, whilst Mark Molesley (tendonitis), Dan Fitchett (hamstring) and Tristan Plummer (hamstring) are all doubts.
