Grimsby v Guisley Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 24/10/2014

TOWN take a breather from the league action to play their first senior cup game of the season, against Guiseley at Blundell Park. Paul Hurst has committed Town to field Grimsby's strongest side but they'll have to cope without three players.

Loan signings Danny Parslow and Rhys Oates have both returned to their parent clubs. Of the two Parslow is by far the biggest loss, having been a mainstay of Town's defence over the last few weeks.

The other change is midfielder Scott Brown who is out for a month injured. Fortunately Craig Clay returns in what should be a straight swap in midfield.

Hurst has options in attack. Jon-Paul Pittman is back from his latest injury and Nathan Arnold came off the bench and almost scored last week at Torquay. The Mariners played one up front last week away, but Hurst had the option to play two strikers from the start in an attempt to take the game to the Conference North outfit.

Second choice 'keeper Callum Bastock is also injured and won't make the bench, where seven substitutes are allowed.

Guiseley are fifth in the Conference North, and they reached the play-offs last year, so are one of the better teams below non-league's top table. The West Yorkshire side are unbeaten away this season.
