Town Lack Six Appeal

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 16/11/2014

GRIMSBY were just minutes away from recording their sixth successive victory, when they were leading 1-0 at Altrincham thanks to a Nathan Arnold goal. However this time the Town defence didn't keep their customary clean sheet and a mistake by Parslow led to a late equaliser by Leather.

The result nonetheless consolidates Town's position in second place, although highlights the danger of trying to win games 1-0 every week.

The game followed the pattern of most Town games of late: give the opposition very few chances, and win the game with a moment of brilliance from a handful of opportunites. This time it was the turn of Nathan Arnold who fired in a long-range effort to give Town the lead on 67 minutes. A few minutes earlier John-Lewis had had a goal disallowed for offside. Earlier Town had had most of the opportunities on goal, with Altrincham not looking much of a threat to Town's solid back line.

Town sat back in the closing stages. It's worked in the last couple of games which they have won 1-0 but this time Parslow failed to make a decent clearance and a cross came in from Sean Williams which Leather scored from in the 89th minute.

Frustrating as the result was almost all of the teams below Town in the table also dropped points.

Town's next game is at home to Kidderminster at the weekend.
