Altrincham v Grimsby Preview

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 18/08/2015

GRIMSBY head away for Blundell Park after two 4-1 wins at home have assuaged the memories of the late goal conceded at Kidderminster in the season's opener. Town head to Altrincham tonight, a ground where they conceded a late equaliser in a similar manner to that at Kidderminster last season.

In fact Grimsby have never beaten Altrincham in four attempts so although the Cheshire club have yet to get a point or a goal this season, the Mariners will be taking nothing for granted against a "bogey" side.

Paul Hurst is unlikely to make many chances after two good results against Barrow and Bromley. However Shaun Pearson and Jack Mackreth are both options for the Town boss, which he may exercise due to the quick succession of fixtures and a desire to keep some players fresh.

Hurst has a few players still injured so his other choices to some extent are limited at the moment. Scott Brown (foot), Gregor Robertson (knee), Marcus Marshall (knee) and Jon-Paul Pittman (stomach) are all at various stages in their recoveries but none of them are fit enough to start the match. Robertson is closest and has made the bench in the last three games, but with no expectation of being heavily involved in the matches and he doesn't have the fitness to last 90 minutes.

The Robins have no injuries. The most likely change is a recall for striker Damian Reeves, given that neither of the strikers who have started games so far have found the net.

Town Supporters can pay on the gate tonight.
