Town Advance to FAT Semis

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/02/2016

GRIMSBY cantered into the FA Trophy Semi-Final with a comfortable win over division rivals Woking. Two first half goals by Nathan Arnold were enough to see Town get within a game of another Wembley appearance.

Captain Craig Disley returned from suspension for the Mariners, the only change from the side which beat Woking in the midweek game, as Paul Hurst reversed his policy of playing a second string side in the FA Trophy.

Arnold scored the opener on just 12 minutes, finding the corner of the net from Horwood's cross. The winger then curled in a second from the edge of the box towards the end of the first half.

Pittman and Arnold both had chances after the break, but the Mariners sailed through for a comfortable finish against a side they tend to do well against. Town now face Forest Green in Friday night's televised game.

The FA trophy semis means that two March Saturday fixtures now how to find new dates: Braintree at home, and Woking away. The Mariners could either face Bognor Regis Town, Nantwich, and the winner of Halifax or Gateshead in the semis.
