GRIMSBY'S disastrous run continued with another home defeat, this time to Exeter City. The day proved to be a nightmare scenario for Town as 4 of the other 5 teams in the bottom 6 all won and the Mariners are undeniably now part of the relegation battle.

Town were given every opportunity to get at least a point as Exeter barely created a chance all game. Their only opportunity came from a Jayden Stockley penalty, but the ref awarded Grimsby a spot kick from which Hooper completely missed the goal.

Grimsby were given a further lifeline when Kane Wilson received a red card with 10 minutes to go.

Hooper and debutante Harry Clifton both went close before the first goal, but the Mariners were barely able to muster a chance on target all game.

The other results means action must be taken quickly with time running out for Town to rescue their season.
