Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

We are Town!
We are Town!

Grimsby v Barnet Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 13/04/2018

GRIMSBY won their first "cup final" last week thanks to a 1-0 win over Chesterfield, and will be hoping to do the double double over the bottom two when they take on Barnet tomorrow. Town have already beaten Barnet in London, and three more points against the Londoners would probably see the Mariners virtually home and dry.

Despite the win last week, Town still haven scored very few goals from open play, and had the referee to thank for a late penalty against Chesterfield. Striker Simeon Jackson (hamstring) is fit again and looks likely to be involved against Barnet, not least as the other strikers are woefully incapable of finding the net! Defender Ben Davies is also fit again and gives Michel Jolley options, although sticking with the back four which kept a clean sheet must be a serious consideration for Town's manager.

Paul Dixon and Karleigh Osborne remain on the injury list.

Barnet have a relatively easy run in and still have Grimsby and Chesterfield to play. They'll be hoping to win those two games and rely on other sides losing if they are to avoid being relegated for the third time.

Their chances are not helped as defender Ricardo Santos, midfielder Dan Sweeney and dangerman striker John Akinde are all doubtful and will face late fitness tests. Eight players are out injured including 'keeper Jamie Stephens, defenders Elliott Johnson (knee) and Harry Taylor (foot) and striker Dave Tarpey (knee).

Grimsby have a good record against Barnet with 12 wins in 18 games, and 6 in 8 at Blundell Park.
