GRIMSBY ended their ten-game winless run with a home win against Carlisle which dented the Cumbrian's playoff hopes. Loanee Joe Grayson's scored a late goal which secured all three points for the Mariners in their first win for over two months.

Chances were at a premium for both sides, with Charles Vernam coming closest for Town in the first half with a deflected shot and Carlisle's O'Hare had his shot blocked by Harry Davis.

James McKeown made a good save early in the second half to deny Nathan Thomas, and later on, Vernam produced a good save from Collin.

With the Mariners looking to another 0-0 draw, Vernam fired in a cross which picked out Grayson to slot in at at the far post.

Town have two games left to try and end a disappointing season on a high note, and their next game against Notts County could see the Mariners relegate the Magpies if County fail to win.
