Brighton Next Up

GRIMSBY face another FA Cup tie away on the South Coast, although it won't discourage from the Black and White Army making a weekend trip down to Brighton on the weekend of Match 17-19.

The Mariners have avoided the two Manchester clubs who have both been drawn at home. Brighton are the fourth highest placed of the remaining teams. But no draw is a bad draw when you have been waiting 84 years to get this far.

Manchester City v Burnley
Manchester United v Fulham
Brighton & Hove Albion v Grimsby Town
Sheffield United v Blackburn Rovers

Grimsby can't play at Blundell Park again at this year's FA Cup as there are no replays and the semis and final are at Wembley. All 4 matches are on at different times, so it could be on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

The 1939 QF draw, the last before WW2, ended as follows, with Town's game also falling third in the draw.

Wolves 2–0 Everton
Portsmouth 1–0 Preston North End
Chelsea 0–1 Grimsby Town
Huddersfield 1–1 Blackburn (Huddersfield won replay)

Town lost to Wolves in the semi who then lost to Pompey in the final. There were to be no more FA Cup ties until 1945 when Town's players had long been disbanded and they were never to recover their status again. Until now.
