The mariners have persuaded 22-year-old Chelsea striker Mark Nicholls to join them on loan for at least a month. Nicholls joins as cover for the injured strike pair of Lee Ashcroft and Bradley Allen.
Nicholls is expected to join the squad for Saturday's game against Crystal Palace at home. If he plays he will be up against club team mate Mikkel Forssell who himself has just signed on loan from for Palace from Chelsea for up to two months.
Nicholls has made 36 league appearances for Chelsea and scored three goals. Earlier this season he was loaned out to second division Reading but a full move broke down when Chelsea demanded a £400,000 transfer fee.
