David Peasgood this weekend finds Bert and Fred thinking they can't believe anything they read about Ashcroft in the GET any more, after conflicting stories appeared in the paper in the past week

BERT:
He's on the list to raise money.

FRED:
No he's on the list for fighting.

BERT:
No it's for money.

FRED:
I tell you it's for fighting!

BERT:
MONEY!!

FRED:
FIGHTING!!!

BERT:
Listen you old fool I know it's money cos it was in the telegraph and BillO was told it at the ground.

FRED:
Are you telling me both stories are in the Telegraph?

BERT:
Yeah. And never mind which ones right cos no-one bought Ashcroft so we still own him.

FRED:
Well lets get him in the team then. If he's for sale for money we need him on the pitch showing his talents off. The team we've put out last 2 games haven't shown much.

BERT:
Ah but if he's on the transfer list for upsetting AB then he might be getting the AB cold shoulder treatment.

FRED:
God I hope not. That can last months. Look he cost us half a million quid and we've scored 1 goal in open play in 12 and a half hours. He's our top scorer so what the hell are we playing at?

BERT:
Silly buggers if you ask me. Arsenal had Adams in jail for drink driving but stuck by him. Crofty got a game for Ipswich straight away after doing time, but we just have to be that little bit stricter don't we.

FRED:
It looks that way. Even if it sends us to relegation, someone seems determined to prove a point.

BERT:
Well the board should step in then. We're 7 points off the drop with a nightmare run in and could easily finish on the same 46 points we have now.

FRED:
I agree. 46 is enough to go down, especially with our negative goal difference. I think this calls for drastic measures.

BERT:
Such as?

FRED:
Such as the fans speaking out a bit more.

BERT:
Yeah but what do they really think?

FRED:
Lets find out?
