Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

York Team News

GRIMSBY central defenders Simon Ford and Paul Groves both suffered slight knocks in Saturday's third consecutive 0-0 draw with West Brom at Blundell Park, but are both expected to be named in the side to face York City in tonight's FA Cup Third Round replay.

Stacy Coldicott is the Mariners' main doubt after missing the West Brom clash with a muscle injury and the former Baggie went down with a 'flu infection this week to hinder further his recovery. Otherwise Groves is expected to stick with the 5-3-2 formation which has helped Grimsby only concede one goal in four games under the new player manager, although finding the back of the net continues to be the Mariners' achilles heel.

York, who face extinction if they cannot find a new owner before the end of the season, are without midfielder Chris Brass (hamstring) for the cup encounter.

Groves was grateful to still be in the cup after a poor display against York at Blundell Park, and is hoping that Grimsby can succeed given a second bite at the cherry.

"Perhaps we could have done without the replay, but when you reflect back on the game itself, while we were disappointed in our performance, we are happy that we have got another go at it and can put it right," the Town player-boss told Mariners Net

"You only need to look over that weekend's results and there were one or two funny ones. That weekend in particular there were one or two cup upsets that were very unexpected so we're looking on the positive side of things."
