Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Livvo Making Progress On His Comeback Trail

By: Richard Lord
Date: 17/03/2002

INJURED striker Steve Livingstone still has hopes of playing before the end of the season but knows that he realistically has to concentrate on getting himself fit for the Mariners' pre-season.

Speaking to the Sports Telegraph, the 31-year old revealed how he has been given the all clear for training, but has to take it slowly.

"I'm just building myself up gradually and hoping that if I can a couple of 12-minute runs in on Monday and Tuesday, I'll be able to step up by the end of the week," said Livingstone.

"I had fluid on my knees and I had to wait for it to clear, so I haven't done anything for four weeks.

"I have to have a mini pre-season and I'd love to get a couple of games in. But it would be nice just to be involved with the lads again and get on the ball in training."

Grimsby Town's Number 14 knows that if he rushes back into things too soon then it would only make problems worse. Livvo continued: "I suppose it's about getting right for next season now. I like to stay fit and I have to be ready for the pre-season in the summer.

"But if I go at it too quickly the swelling and the fluid on my knee might come up again."
