Bring Back Buckley!

By: Tony Hamilton
Date: 17/09/2002

AFTER last season's narrow escape from Div 2, this season isn't going to plan due to the lack of experience of our management team. We all know it's going to be a struggle for Paul Groves and Graham Rodger, so why don't we bring in someone to help.

Someone who knows the division inside out, who can pass on his experience to help them along the way. Neither of them has managed a team before and that is now showing by the way the team is performing at the moment. With the long season in front of us we need strength on and off the field, so Grimsby Town can fulfil its aim to stay in division one.

The perfect man for this job, in my opinion, is Alan Buckley. Whether you love him or hate him his experience at this level is second to none and with the strain on the management team starting to show we need him now!!

Paul Groves to most Town fans is a legend but in the history of football not many player managers have been successful combining both jobs, and to get us out of this mess Grovesy might have to stop playing or step aside as the management of the team needs an overhaul.

We all know that Alan Buckley hasn't a good word to say about town at the moment but putting that aside he's out of work and will probably jump at the chance of getting back into football as the Mariners Football Consultant.

So let's all back this idea, as then our beloved team will still be there in division one at the end of the season.
