TOWN simply have to win to get their season started. Although Forest had a fantastic result in midweek the Mariners need to vanish any thoughts of defeat from their memory.

Players To Watch

|

Danny Coyne

Darren Ward

Hopefully we won’t have to watch the Welshman in action very much come Saturday, but the fact that he has been Town’s most consistent player over the past two seasons hints to the fact that we may see him a lot. Coyne, signed on a free from Tranmere by Alan Buckley in the summer of 1999 has turned out to be an inspirational signing and was Town’s man of the match midweek against Sheffield United. He is now pushing the likes of Paul Jones, Mark Crossley and Forest’s very own Darren Ward for a more regular spot in the Wales side.
|
If this match is anything like last seasons encounter then it will be a battle between the ‘keepers. Both Welsh internationals, Coyne and Ward are both superb shot stoppers and are amongst the best goalkeepers in the league. Ward is in his second season with the Nottingham side after moving on a free transfer from local rivals Notts County. He has also represented Mansfield - another rival club. He and Coyne could both have major says in Saturday’s game.

Tony Gallimore is likely to miss out with injury again through his achilles injury. Simon Ford will continue at left back.
Darren Barnard has been coughing up blood recently, something that forced him off on Saturday, so is a doubt but is expected to make it.
Meanwhile, loan star Steve Kabba probably won’t make it. He has a hamstring injury that is related to a bad back that kept him out for Palace last season. Either Jonny Rowan or Darren Mansaram will start in his place.
|
Ricky Scimeca is out after breaking his nose. He won’t be fit for another fortnight so Gareth Williams continues in his place.
Former Town player Jack Lester who was sent off last week will sit on the bench after the partnership of David Johnson and Marlon Harewood bagged four goals in midweek. |

Last Time Out

|
The last time the two sides met was in February, the game that saw the debut of Andy Todd and Martin Pringle for the Mariners. This game, like the first meeting that season ended in a 0-0 draw. In an even game, both sides had chances with Michael Boulding coming close for the Mariners and Nicky Summerbee inspiring a very young Forest side.
Town Team: Coyne, McDermott, Gallimore, Groves, Todd, Butterfield, Campbell, Pouton, Burnett, Pringle, Boulding.
Subs (not used): Allen, Ford, Jevons, Smith, Croudson
Attendance: 21,081 Report
Forest Head-to-Head
