Thorpe Loan Extension

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 06/03/2004

NEW Town boss Nicky Law is trying to extend Leyton Orient striker Lee Thorpe's loan spell at Blundell Park until the end of the season. Thorpe has spent a month on loan with the Mariners, and has been one of Town's better players in recent games.

However, midfielder Nick Daws will almost certainly leave the club when his loan ends on 16th March. "We've now had six loans and that means we've just got two available," Law told Mariners Net.

"Nick Daws' ends on the 16th and that's probably the end of Nick Daws. That's his third month and you can't take any more than that.

Meanwhile Barnsley striker Isaiah Rankin, who is currently injured, is the third of an on-loan trio on whom Law will have to make a decision.

"Isaiah Rankin's loan is up on the 20th. He has obviously picked up that bad injury and we will have to look at him in the early part of next week, assess his injury and make a decision on him. The last two loans have been strikers. Take them away and we're left with one young striker."
