The Fat Lady’s not Singing Yet!

By: Robert Salt
Date: 31/01/2007

GRIMSBY Town enter the last few months of the Football League currently in 91st position. It may be all doom and gloom, but the fat lady is not quite singing yet!

The Mariners go to Boston on Saturday in the worst form the club has ever encountered in its long eventful history, and for every Town fan alive it is very painful and hurtful time to see what is happening to our beloved black and white stripes, especially when our near neighbours seem to be doing quite well in the league above us.

However, starting from this Saturday we have to put all our thoughts on who should be playing and who should not be playing, who we should have signed and not signed and if Alan Buckley should have returned and should he stay or go.

At this moment in time it is the players of GTFC us fans need to get behind and support, however difficult and frustrating it gets. We need to support them and encourage them from the stands, we need to do our bit to get our beloved club out of the mess we are in and to ensure we survive in the Football League.

We need to get as many to Boston as we possibly can and all fans that go need to encourage as many others as we can to make the trip and sing our hearts out before during and after the match.

Hopefully if we get a result on Saturday we need to carry that support on to the next game and so on. Let’s be proud to follow our team and let’s make sure we give them as much encouragement as we possibly can.

On looking at the bottom of the League Two table nobody needs reminding how desperate it looks. However it is tight down at the bottom and one or two wins could jump you three of four places. Confidence may return back to the team and we may be able to put some more points behind us to get away from the bottom two places.

It is so vital that this club remains in the Football League to survive. If the unthinkable happens and we drop out of the league then surely our new ground won’t happen and we would have to remain at BP. Some of us would get dragged round the shops on a Saturday afternoon by their missus. One thing’s for sure we all need to do our bit and try and get the players to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in and show some fight and passion for this club.

We can still get out of this mess, the fat lady is not quite singing, she’s only getting ready to clear her throat, let’s make sure that’s all she does!!

Up the Mariners.
