Simon Ramsden

Bishop Auckland-born Ramsden began his career at Sunderland as a trainee back in 2001. After a loan spell at Notts County and limited first team chances at Sunderland Ramsden was released. But in the summer of 2004 then Town boss Russell Slade signed the 24-year-old hoping he could solve Grimsby's recent defensive frailties.

In his first season Ramsden managed 26 games proving himself to be a strong reliable centre back or right back. He had good composure on the ball and good distribution. The following season proved to be a different story, having started the season well "Rambo" succumbed to injury and failed to break back into the side.

Lack of first team opportunities forced Ramsden to move on to Rochdale for whom he currently plays now and is reproducing the form we first saw from him at Town.
