Was he actually on the pitch tonight?

He is our captain ye?  , 3rd v 5th tonight and he decides (again) to go missing the full 90 mins.

Jesus man,  show some balls and lead by example..

The undroppable man.

I dont think now is the right time to be starting threads criticising players ( however much a point you have). We ALL have to get behind them on friday for a massive game

Well its a forum mate sorry.

It is a valid point and one that gets overlooked..

He is our captain and the captain should from time to time show why he is the captain.

Craig has been overplayed, in my view, and it isn't doing him or the team any favours in the long run

Agree about him being overplayed. Give him the rest of the season off and play Thanoj and Paddy.

On a number of occasions Disley made some decent forward runs but the player with the ball failed to spot the runs. He must be very frustrated when this happens. I believe Tunkara failed to put him through twice. It ain't just Disleys fault

Especially if you play hoof ball no ones going to get on the ball if the midfield is being bypassed.

Thats completely correct, the 'tactic' seems to be knock it long, that must
come from the Manager, or else he would have done something to stop it long
ago, knocking it long only works for Midfielders who are capable of supporting
their forwards one minute and seconds later defending on the edge of their own
box, neither Disley or Kerr (both decent players)are capable of doing this, so the
long ball is pointless.
I am convinced we have a squad of far better players than the way they are
'allowed' to play, so, sadly there is only one man you can point the finger at IMHO.

I am not defending Dis, but making him the scapegoat for tonight's defeat is not right. You could pick several players who were just not good enough, the whole of the midfield for example and Tonk. Going forward Hatton  and Thomas's delivery was not good enough, even Jimmy Mac's kicking was sloppy, Boyce failed to pass the ball to anybody, just hoofed it forward.

Playing 2 32/33 Year olds in Midfield was going to catch up with us sooner or later and surprise that performances from the team have dipped since January when the 2 started to tire. We have been playing too deep in midfield for months and the team have been crying out for a midfielder with a bit of energy and creativity for long enough. Hurst though has his favourites and doesn't dare drop either of them. Shame/

I like Dizza he pops up with some important goals and its not his fault he gets picked every game.  But this season he has been a different player hes not getting any younger yet the manager uses him like hes a young midfielder whis fill of legs.  I dont think he's captain material but is he one of the longest serving players at the club.

I agree with your points. Disley made some great forward runs tonight but didn't receive a decent pass once. He looked very frustrated at times.

There were far worse players on the pitch tonight.

No LJL tonight so we appear to need to find a new scapegoat!

I'll tell you what's shameful , the fact that we had no clue how to beat a well organised part time side that played with heart and desire, whoever sold you those rose tinted spes, has a really good product

At no point have I said that it was a good performance. Couldn't you have shared that gem on one of the other myriad threads about how crap we were?

The last time I looked football was a team game.

This thread is about the wholly unacceptable scapegoating of one of eleven players. A player who was by no means the worst performer tonight.

My point is IF you can understand it is.

1.disley is the captain and sometimes it would be decent to get a captains performance.

2. He never gets dropped by the tinkerman, why?

3. He was shite again last night.

This shameful lark what you say is pathetic, FFS its a forum about a certain club which this certain player plays for.

And this certain player has not performed yet again
,my point being it would be nice to get a performance out of one of the players currently occupying the captains armband at this time of the season.

Now is that ok for you?

I would not put too weight on this part-time status.  There is very little difference these days in fitness levels compared to FT players. Not at this level anyway.

Look at lower league Salisbury.  Scored 2 goals at BP in ET in an FA Cup replay. That was after we took the lead in ET.  No shortage of energy that night.

I like Disley but would have to say some of his performances of late haven't been the best, however all four midfielders were poor in my opnion last night even Nielson who normally would be one of my first names on the team sheet.

Kerr's corners and free kicks were very poor and Colbeck, well what can I say, from the first time I saw him play I haven't rated him and last night we may as well have played with 10 men.

I wouldn't even say fitness was an issue last night. As people have said they had more desire to win the game. Their lads are potentially 6 games from giving up their day jobs and becoming full time professional footballers. I don't think theres anyone on here who wouldn't run themselves into the ground to be able to do that!

A very valid point,, but the same could be said in reverse.. many of the town players could be 3 games away from finding a day job,, And one that involves more than a few hours actuall work every week instead of 2/3 hours a day

Alan Buckley said on RH, around midway through the 2nd half, that somebody in the team should go up to Kerr
and say "Let someone else take this corner/free kick" (because his had been cr@p all match).

I suggest that somebody ought to be the captain.

This, problem is its a long season for 30 year old midfielders and perhaps Thanoj and Paddy would be a better choice for the next two games

I don't really see what difference a captain makes, except for the toss up and tradition. Not many so called captains spur teams on these days, given that players usually adhere to a game plan (if they have one) . Can't think of many skippers that lead from the front these days unless your Gerrard of course. Although I am not a Kerr fan, he does seem to give more orders on the field than Disley.
