Puns aside I was hoping he would be one of the longer term deals.

Yeah so was I, whoever made that deal needs Shooting!

What was the problem with Brown anyone? We saw more than the odd glimpse of him in full flow but for the large part he seemed to struggle to make an impact on the game on a consistent basis.
I had hoped for a little better from him, and still do should he be kept on.

Often easier to play for a team with low expectations like Southport? Hopefully, he will reach his early season promise, if he signs of course.

I don't actually think that any of our three central midfielders (assuming Brown does sign) are particularly good threading passes through to the forwards. Disley rarely plays too many forward passes (though he gets into the box himself to nab some goals) and both Clay and Brown tend to dwell on the ball in midfield, taking too many touches on occasions when a first-time ball would be the better option. I think this is why we haven't been as much of a threat on the counter-attack as we could have been with that pacier players we've had available to us this season.

Technically, they are all fine with the ball at their feet and have a good touch, but all seem to lack that little bit of extra nouse to create many chances with their passing. They are all Conference players, however, so perhaps this shouldn't be too much of a surprise.

Brown's problem is that he turns on the ball too often. Cut that nonsense out in the wrong areas and he'll do alright. He's sticking around anyway.

At the start of the season he looked like he head feet of Clay but progressively became more of a footballer rather than a hacker, which he looked like he was at the start.
